My name is Stephen Ullstrom, and I am an award-winning professional book indexer. I believe that all nonfiction (and even a fair bit of fiction) is greatly enhanced with a comprehensive, thoughtfully written index. I also believe in making the art and craft of indexing accessible.

In my Indexing Matters newsletter, I explore the ins and outs of writing a quality index, including case studies from indexes I have written, as well as insights from the business side of being a freelance indexer. I email a new reflection every other Tuesday.
